It has been awhile since I have looked forward to my Birthday. Yet, once it arrives, it prompts some expectation of “specialness”, ease or treat. This year had none of those as the month was filled with weekend trips through horrible weather, and my special day was gobbled up during a four day stay in the hospital with my Mom. Hours on the phone attempting to find a care facility, sleeping in a hospital room chair, traveling two hours each way and thinking about catching up on my regular responsibilities left me weary as I finally opened my Birthday cards. Tucked in one from a missionary prayer group was this verse from Isaiah 41:10.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
What a refreshing reminder that God will strengthen and uphold me! Many miles still await us and my Mom’s health will continue fail, but I know I can rely on my God to help me when I am weary!
